Advanced Intensive Mentorship in Diagnosis and Treatment
of Sensory Processing Disorder
Assessment Measures
Mentorship Program participants will be trained in the administration, scoring and interpretation of the following Assessment Measures:
Course - Level 1:
1. Sensory Measures
- The SPD checklists (Schoen & Miller)
- The Sensory Processing Measure (Parham & Ecker; Kuhanek, Henry and Glennon)
2. Functional and Neuro-maturational measures
- The Miller Function and Participation Scales (M-Fun) and/or
- The Miller Assessment for Preschoolers (MAP)
3. Outcome measures
- Goal Attainment Scaling
Course - Level 2: Dynamic Listening Systems Training and Certification
Pre-course study materials will be sent in advance of this four-day training. These materials will include a brief discussion of the history and background of Dr. Tomatis, the Tomatis laws and core principles, a review of the anatomy and physiology of the brain, particularly the auditory and vestibular system, terminology, program structure, assessment and information related to the Listening Test and listening protocols. The on-site training includes hands-on instruction in administering a Listening Test. Detailed analysis and interpretation of the Listening Test and related clinical reasoning to determine an individualized DLS protocol based on the Listening Test and a variety of other factors will be taught through case studies. Certification requires both the completion of one's own listening program, as well as supervision after the course is completed, of three cases from beginning to end of 23-30 session program.

- Bayley Scales of Infant Development (Bayley)
- Toddler and Infant Motor Evaluation (Miller and Roid)
- First STEP (Screening Test for Evaluating Preschoolers) (Miller)
- Piers-Harris Self-Esteem Scale (Piers and Harris)
- Draw A Person (Goodenough)
- Multi-dimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (March)
- Behavior Assessment Scale for Children (Reynolds and ??)
- Social Skills Rating Scale (??)
- Childhood Autism Rating Scale (??)
- ADHD Behavior Rating Scale (Barkeley?)
Participants will receive a Level 1, Level 3 and Level 4 Proficiency Credential when they demonstrate mastery of the assessment and intervention material, including administration, scoring, interpretation and write-up of assessments, and planning, administration and notes for intervention.
